Sudan Is Immune From Suit Claiming It Sponsored Terrorist Attack

A federal district court properly ruled that it didn’t have jurisdiction over a suit claiming that Sudan sponsored a terrorist attack in Israel, the DC Circuit said.

Although the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act allows suits against foreign governments for personal injuries arising from acts of terrorism they sponsored, the Sudan Claims Resolution Act stripped that jurisdiction from US courts for all terrorism claims against Sudan, except those arsing from the Sept. 11, 2001 attack, the opinion by Judge Neomi Rao said.
