A selective STEM-focused high school in northern Virginia didn’t violate the equal protections clause because the challengers didn’t show its admissions policy had a disparate impact on Asian American students, a federal appeals court said Tuesday.
Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria is ranked the number one high school in the country by US News Rankings. The US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit reversed a summary judgment granted by a lower court to the Coalition for TJ, a group of local parents who challenged the policy as unconstitutional.
