State Street Accused of Illegally Firing 9/11 Victim With Cancer

State Street Corp. was hit with a lawsuit from a former employee who alleged the bank violated state and federal medical leave laws by firing her while she battled cancer caused by the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

The complaint filed Monday by Bonnie Lam says she worked for 20 years at State Street’s billing department, and that she faced discrimination from superiors over her cancer treatment. Lam also says she was retaliated against for blowing the whistle on overbilling.
