Congress can compromise on changes to a controversial federal spy authority by a crucial deadline, one of the key negotiators of the legislation said.

Jim Jordan, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, voiced optimism lawmakers can back a revised Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act by April 19, when the law’s temporary extension is set to expire.
