Sports Betting Tax Yields Top $2 Billion Amid More Legalization

State and local tax revenue from wagering on sports totaled $2.1 billion last year as the sports betting industry reached a record $10.9 in revenue, the American Gaming Association said Tuesday.

Sports betting revenue nationwide surged by 44.5% last year, from $7.6 billion in 2022, driven primarily by growth in existing markets and the addition of more states with legal sports wagering, particularly Ohio and Massachusetts, according to a new report from the industry group.
