Split Ohio High Court Won’t Intervene in Uber, Lyft Lawsuit

A divided Ohio Supreme Court declined Wednesday to answer a certified question on whether the state’s product liability law bars personal-injury claims arising from mobile phone apps.

The 4-3 decision means a Cleveland federal judge won’t get the clarification he sought in a case stemming from a 2019 highway crash in which a driver for Lyft and Uber was switching between both services’ mobile apps when she rear-ended another car.
