A former SogoTrade investor is suing the online brokerage firm, blaming poor data security practices for a data breach that went undiscovered for nearly a year.
The May 2024 breach was linked to a phishing email that compromised four email accounts, according to the complaint filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri. SogoTrade discovered the breach in March 2025, the suit said
“Had Defendant properly monitored its computers, it would have discovered the intrusion sooner, and potentially been able to mitigate the injuries,” plaintiff Kevin Hou said.
