Social Media Giants Ask to Pause Texas Law for High Court Review

A trade group representing social media giants including Meta Platforms Inc. and Twitter Inc. asked a US appeals court to put on hold the enforcement of a Texas law that bans some forms of content moderation pending a US Supreme Court review.

“Until now, no court had ever issued an opinion holding that the government can compel websites to publish, display, disseminate, and subsidize speech against their will,” lawyers for the internet publishers said Thursday in a filing at the New Orleans appellate court.
