Sidley Austin LLP has hired three new partners for its capital markets practice in its New York office: Michael J. Schiavone, Daniel O’Shea, and David Ni are shifting from O’Melveny & Myers LLP, where Schiavone chaired its capital market practice.

Sidley has been steadily growing its capital markets team. Last year, it added partners David Buck, Jon Daly, George Vlahakos, William Cooper, and Angela Richards in Houston as well as Wim De Vlieger and Till Lefranc in London. Sidley has some 2,000 lawyers in 20 offices around the world.

Schiavone’s experience includes bank-side capital markets representations, primarily representing underwriters in transactions.

O’Shea, who also worked at Shearman & Sterling, is experienced in public and private securities transactions and has represented underwriters and issuers, with an emphasis on consumer, retail and media financial services, as well as equity-linked products. His recent clients include CIT Group, where his representations included its offerings of debt and equity securities.

Ni has experience representing clients in various offerings, including primary and secondary equity, convertible notes, investment-grade and high-yield debt, and hybrid securities. He also has experience in acquisition and leveraged finance, debt restructuring and liability management transactions.

Sidley said that Schiavone was at work but unavailable for an interview.

O’Melveny said that it “wishes Mr. Schiavone well.”
