Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sued fast-fashion giant Shein Friday, alleging the company unlawfully sells toxic products to US consumers and exposes Americans’ personal data to the Chinese government.
Shein US Services LLC’s conduct violates the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act as well as the state’s business code, Paxton said in a complaint in state court. The Lone Star State seeks a temporary restraining order and injunction barring Shein from continuing its unlawful conduct and civil penalties of up to $10,000 for each alleged business code violation.
