Seventh Circuit’s Wood Calls Justices Term Limits ‘Intriguing’

Diane Wood of the US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit said 18-year term limits for Supreme Court justices is an “intriguing thought” and endorsed age limits for lower court judges.

Wood, who announced plans last December to take senior status upon confirmation of her successor, made the comments in a podcast published earlier this month with Duke Law School’s Bolch Judicial Institute.

Host David Levi asked Wood whether there should be age term limits for life-tenured federal judges set at “75 or 78 or something of that sort, maybe even 80 in these days,” according to a transcript ...
