Sequencing LLC Users Get Class Status in Genetic-Privacy Suit

Consumers who sought DNA testing from Sequencing LLC won class certification for their lawsuit alleging the company shared their genomic information with third parties without their consent, in violation of the Illinois Genetic Information Privacy Act.

Judge Elaine E. Bucklo of the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois granted certification Thursday for all Illinois residents who had their genetic test results disclosed to a third party by Sequencing from Jan. 28, 2020, to Sept. 1, 2022.
