Sentence Stands for GlaxoSmithKline Scientist Who Took Secrets

An eight-month sentence a former GlaxoSmithKline scientist received for stealing trade secrets from the company, valued by that the government at more than $1 billion, was upheld by the Third Circuit on Tuesday.

The trial court properly calculated Yu Xue’s sentence because the government didn’t show that she intended to cause the company that much harm, the opinion by Chief Judge Michael A. Chagares of the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit said, rejecting the government’s appeal.
