The 24-month sentence a defendant received after pleading guilty for his part in a successful scheme to steal diamonds from Jared jewelry stores in a multi-state area was upheld by the Sixth Circuit.
When Demetrius Woodson entered a Jared store, he would ask to see a diamond. An accomplice would then create a disturbance to pull the sales person away, and Woodson would swap the diamond with cubic zirconia and leave the store, the court said Wednesday.
Woodson lived in Toledo, Ohio, but he targeted stores in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois, and New Jersey. In all, he hit 14 stores ...
