The Senate advanced the nomination of President Donald Trump’s former personal attorney Emil Bove to a federal appellate court in a procedural vote that sets up a possible move to confirm him as early as next week.
The chamber on Thursday invoked cloture, or voted to end debate, 50-48, on the senior Justice Department official’s selection by Trump to the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Two Republicans, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Susan Collins of Maine, voted no.
