The Senate Judiciary Committee advanced Elizabeth Prelogar’s nomination to the lead the office which represents the government before the U.S. Supreme Court.
Republicans Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Thom Tillis of North Carolina joined all the committee’s Democrats in the 13-9 vote Thursday in favor of Prelogar to serve as Solicitor General, the Justice Department’s fourth highest ranking position.
Prelogar led the SG’s office on an acting basis before being nominated for the job in August.
