Senate Begins Work on Next Batch of Trump Nominee Confirmations

Senate Republicans are starting the process of confirming the next package of dozens of President Donald Trump’s nominees, marking the first time this year the chamber will use new procedures for speedier confirmations.

A resolution (S.Res.690) was placed on the Senate calendar Monday night, starting the multi-step process to authorize consideration of a batch of nominees. The list includes dozens of Trump picks for US attorneys, ambassadors, US marshals, and assistant secretaries for the departments of Transportation, State, Defense and Commerce, according to a list from Senate Majority Leader John Thune‘s (R-S.D.) office.
