Sedgwick LLP lawyers will soon be job hunting after the firm announced that it will be closing early next year.
Several Sedgwick attorneys—including high-ranking partners—left the firm in the past year, and the firm closed offices in a few cities. Sedgwick will close in early January, firm spokesman Joey Telucci told Bloomberg Law Nov. 21.
“We have concluded that the best way to allow our lawyers to continue providing great service to our clients is by ceasing operations and moving to other excellent law firms,” Sedgwick said in a statement.
Firm officials declined to give interviews.
The firm’s employment and labor team consists of 26 lawyers (14 partners, four counsel, and eight associates) in seven cities. Its employee benefits team consists of three lawyers (two partners and one associate) in San Francisco, of whom two also work on the employment and labor team.
