A career prosecutor has been named interim chief prosecutor at the US attorney’s office in Texas near the US-Mexico border, the latest office to see successive appointments of temporary US attorneys as Senate Democrats slow those nominations.
Justin Simmons, a prosecutor in the San Antonio division’s white collar section, was announced May 30 as the interim US attorney for the Western District of Texas, according to an internal announcement and a LinkedIn update. The district also has locations in El Paso, Austin, Waco, Del Rio, Alpine, and Midland.
