Second Circuit Judge Peter Hall Dies Shortly After Retiring

Second Circuit Judge Peter Hall died Thursday a week after taking a form of semi-retirement known as senior status. He was 72.

Hall had been listed as “unavailable” on several rulings prior to his retirement for which he was part of the panel. His cause of death wasn’t immediately disclosed by the court.

In a statement from the Second Circuit Thursday, Chief Judge Debra Livingston remembered Hall as “a thoughtful and humane jurist.”
