Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer urged the chief judge of the Texas federal court that’s under fire for judge-shopping to implement a new policy seeking to curb the practice “as soon as possible.”
In a Thursday letter, Schumer asked David Godbey of the Northern District of Texas about his plans for carrying out the Judicial Conference’s policy guidance. The policy encourages courts to randomly assign within the district any cases that seek to block a statewide or nationwide action.
