School, Student Rap Battle Won’t Be Heard by High Court

A former student suspended for his YouTube rap recording accusing coaches of sexual harassment won’t get to make his case at the U.S. Supreme Court after it denied certiorari Feb. 29 (Bell v. Itawamba Cty. Sch. Bd., U.S., 15-666, review denied 2/26/16).

The dispute involved “a close question involving several uncertain areas” of First Amendment law, Michael W. McConnell, a professor who teaches constitutional law at Stanford Law School, Stanford, Calif., previously told Bloomberg BNA 83 U.S.L.W. 928, 12/23/14.
