Families of victims of the 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., and an FBI agent who was a first responder at the scene, sued media personality Alex Jones for defamation May 23.
At the heart of the suit filed in Superior Court in Bridgeport, Conn., are Jones’s on-air comments that the shooting was “fake,” “staged,” and used actors. Jones has also said he’s done research that proves the shooting “just pretty much didn’t happen,” and "[t]he whole thing is a giant hoax.”
