San Francisco Resident Drops Suit Over License Plate Readers

A San Francisco resident voluntarily dismissed his allegations that the city’s police department unlawfully shared data collected by San Francisco’s nearly 500 license plate readers with state and federal agencies.

Michael Moore on Tuesday filed a notice of voluntary dismissal in the US District Court for the Northern District of California. The retired public school teacher filed the proposed class action last month, alleging the San Francisco Police Department allowed law enforcement in Georgia and Texas, acting on behalf of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, to comb through its surveillance database compiled by the city’s Flock Safety cameras.
