Tenant-screening company SafeRent Solutions LLC and prospective renters who were denied housing on the basis of its AI-generated report won final approval of their $2.3 million class settlement.
During the next five years SafeRent won’t include in reports “a SafeRent Score or an accept/decline recommendation based on a tenant screening score,” according to the parties’ agreement filed in the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts. SafeRent must require its customers to certify that “the rental applicant for whom they are requesting a SafeRent Score is not currently a recipient of any publicly-funded federal or state housing voucher.”
