Roblox Wins State-Law Claim Dismissal in Child Gambling Case

Gaming platform Roblox Corp. shed state-law fraud claims against it by parents who alleged that their children lost money in the form of the platform’s internal currency on third-party gambling websites.

Roblox oversees use of “Robux,” its digital currency that has actual monetary value, the suit said. Users under 18 can use their parents’ credit cards to buy Robux on the platform, according to the complaint, and Roblox has knowledge of each transfer in the virtual ecosystem. Though Roblox bars gambling on its website, Robux can be used on third-party sites to gamble, it said.
