Rising Threats to U.S. Judiciary Top 4,500, Security Bill Idles

Threats to federal judges and other personnel rose last year, according to U.S. Marshals Service data that comes with legislation to boost security prompted by the killing of a judge’s son idling in Congress.

Threats and inappropriate communications against judges and other judiciary personnel topped 4,500 in the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, increasing from 4,200 in the previous period, the Marshals Service, which provides protection for the third branch, reported.
