The Rhode Island state agency tasked with protecting the rights of children is urging a federal judge to quash a Justice Department subpoena for hospital records on care provided to transgender minors.
The Child Advocate for the State of Rhode Island said in an emergency motion filed Monday in the US District Court for the District of Rhode Island that the subpoena from the US attorney’s office in the Northern District of Texas is an “unprecedented intrusion into the private medical information of children” and “cannot be justified by any legitimate law enforcement purpose.”
