Resident Iraqi Who Kept Rental Car Too Long Won’t Be Deported

A lawful permanent resident from Iraq who kept a rental car for 163 days longer than he was supposed to can stay in the US, the Sixth Circuit said.

Habib Al-Adily pleaded guilty in Michigan for failing to timely return rental property, and was ordered to pay Thrifty-Rent-a-Car $10,660 in restitution. The Department of Homeland Security sought to have Al-Adily removed from the US because he had an aggravated felony conviction for a fraud valued at more than $10,000.
