Republican Backs Trump Judge Pick He Pressed on Religious Views

Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) plans to vote in favor of President Donald Trump’s judicial nominee he grilled on past religious sermons and teachings he gave that covered topics such as premarital sex in Christianity and women in Christian marriage.

Kennedy told Bloomberg Law on Wednesday that he feels “very comfortable with” Justin Olson, nominated for a federal judgeship in Indiana, after meeting with the nominee following his Dec. 17 confirmation hearing.

A Judiciary Committee vote to advance Olson’s nomination to the full Senate is scheduled for Thursday.
