Reprimand Affirmed for Judicial Candidate Over Campaign Claim

An Ohio attorney running for a judgeship who alleged incorrectly in a campaign letter that her opponent moved to the county to get a court seat should be publicly reprimanded, the state’s highest court said.

“By repeating gossip about her election opponent without making any effort to verify the accuracy of her allegations, she acted with a reckless disregard of whether or not her statements were false,” the Ohio Supreme Court said Thursday.
