A cat advocacy nonprofit filed a lawsuit Wednesday to halt a US National Park Service plan that the group says could kill scores of cats on federal land in Puerto Rico.
The NPS last year said it had adopted a plan to remove cats from the San Juan National Historic Site and Paseo del Morro National Recreational Trail and place them up for adoptions. Cats that aren’t adopted may end up “humanely euthanized,” the NHS said in documents posted to its website. “Cats may also be euthanized due to a lack of kennel space.”
