Public Pays Respects to Justice O’Connor at Supreme Court (1)

Justices and former clerks gathered Monday at the Supreme Court to honor the late Sandra Day O’Connor but few members of the public waited outside on a windy morning to pay their respects.

Heather Maher, was one of just two people in line at 9:15 a.m. waiting to enter the court where O’Connor, the nation’s first female justice, was going to be lying in repose. Maher, who flew to Washington from Portsmouth, Rhode Island Sunday night said, “Justice O’Connor has been my hero my whole life.”
