Prosecutor Who Tried Chandra Levy Murder Case Faces Suspension

The assistant US attorney who successfully prosecuted the Chandra Levy murder trial should be suspended for 60 days because she didn’t properly disclose to defense counsel exculpatory evidence about her primary witness, the DC Court of Appeals Board on Professional Responsibility said.

Amanda Haines violated three D.C. Rules of Professional Conduct by because she didn’t disclose evidence she reasonably should have known negated the guilt of the defendant; she engaged in conduct that seriously interfered with the administration of justice; and she knowingly revealed a confidence, the report and recommendation signed by board member Robert L.
