A new HHS rule allowing taxpayer-funded family planning providers to refer clients to abortion providers must be allowed to take effect, Planned Parenthood Federation of America Inc. says.
The 2021 rule promotes the public health goals of Title X and is needed to correct the harm done by a 2019 Trump administration rule that prohibited abortion referrals, the group said in a friend of the court brief supporting the Biden administration in an Ohio-led lawsuit to stop the rule and reinstate the previous administration’s version.
