Pilgrim’s Pride, Employee Settle Blacklisting Suit During Appeal

Pilgrim’s Pride Corp. and a former employee settled a lawsuit alleging he was fired from a later job with another job—and had a job offer withdrawn—because of actions by Pilgrim’s Pride, federal appeals court records show.

The deal came while Clark Chandler was appealing a Texas federal judge’s dismissal of his suit under state blacklisting law. According to Chandler, Pilgrim’s Pride caused him to be terminated from his accountant position with a subsequent employer and then threatened another prospective employer that it would stop using that company as a services and equipment supplier if it hired him.
