PG&E Liability Questions to Get California Supreme Court Review

California’s Supreme Court on Wednesday agreed to provide the Ninth Circuit with guidance on two questions related to whether PG&E Corp. can be held liable for allegedly failing to safely maintain its power grid.

A proposed class suit filed in 2019 asserted a claim for negligence against PG&E under the California Public Utilities Code, alleging the company’s failure to maintain its grid forced it to implement several power shutoffs in 2019, leaving consumers without power for up to ten consecutive days in a row.
