Pennsylvania Lawyer Disbarred for Committing Insurance Fraud

A Pennsylvania lawyer who took part in schemes to defraud insurance companies by helping clients submit inflated automobile claims to their insurers was disbarred on consent by the state’s highest court.

Michael Benson Wolf submitted his resignation to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s disciplinary board in January. The court officially disbarred him Feb. 5, retroactive to March 2015, when he was temporarily suspended.

Wolf pleaded guilty in 2014 to two third-degree felonies for his part in helping one client file fraudulent injury claims for minor and “phantom” car accidents and another for a slip and fall, the court’s record said.
