Outspoken Coach Retains Order Halting Denver District Punishment

A volunteer high school football coach in Denver who was stripped of his position and denied access to district facilities after being an outspoken critic of the district’s policies, was entitled to a preliminary injunction preventing enforcement of those apparently punitive measures, the Tenth Circuit said.

Brandon Pryor showed that he’s likely to prevail on his claim that the sanctions were in retaliation for his speech and thus violated his First Amendment rights, Judge Joel M. Carson said Tuesday for the US Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
