The Senate narrowly confirmed Andrew S. Oldham to the Fifth Circuit July 18, by a 50-49 vote.
Oldham, who serves as general counsel to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R), was Trump’s fifth nominee to be confirmed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
He’s the fifth very conservative judge to be appointed to the court, “further solidifying its reputation as the most conservative appeals court in the U.S.,” Carl Tobias, a professor at the University of Richmond School of Law, Richmond, Va., who focuses on judicial nominations, told Bloomberg Law.
