Oil Majors Win Bid to Scrap Baltimore Climate Deception Case (1)

A Baltimore circuit judge tossed the city’s long-running climate deception lawsuit against major oil companies including BP PLC and Exxon Mobil Corp. on Wednesday, ruling that the companies couldn’t be held liable under local statute.

Judge Videtta A. Brown of the Circuit Court for Baltimore City granted companies’ motion to dismiss the case, because the claims presented by Baltimore fly “beyond the limits of Maryland state law.”
