Official Who Let Empire Be Filmed in Juvenile Jail Avoids Suit

The superintendent of the Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center is immune from detainees’ suit alleging that the accommodations made for the filming the television show Empire on the property violated their due process rights.

Leonard Dixon is entitled to qualified immunity under Illinois law because the decision to allow the filming was within the scope of his authority, the opinion by Judge Michael B. Brennan said Monday for the US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
