An off-duty Springfield, Ill., police officer, who was moonlighting as a bar bouncer, must face the excessive force suit by a patron he slammed to the ground during an arrest because the Seventh Circuit refused to hear his appeal.
Officers Nicholas Renfro and Terrance Davis were working security at the Dirty South bar when Willie Flowers got into an argument with another customer who had groped his girlfriend, the opinion by Judge Ilana D. Rovner said Aug. 19. Flowers protested when the owner asked him to leave but was eventually escorted out by Davis.
