NYC Transit Authority Sued Over AI Surveillance Documents

New York City’s transit authority is being sued for refusing to provide information related to its use of artificial intelligence tracking software to detect and identify subway fare evaders.

The Surveillance Technology Oversight Project on Wednesday filed a petition asking the New York County Supreme Court to require the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to provide unredacted documents that show names of the AI products being used and of the vendors who provided the products, as well as information about who stores and owns the data collected from the software.
