NY Prison Promises Methadone Access to Current, Future Inmates

Jefferson County, NY, has agreed to let inmates recovering from opioid addiction continue their methadone treatment while in prison, under a proposed settlement with the New York Civil Liberties Union.

Under the settlement, which was filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of New York on Tuesday, Jefferson County Jail will implement a new policy that allows inmates who currently have a methadone prescription to continue their treatment, and those without a current prescription to request evaluation for treatment.
