NY Bill on Teen Social Media Feeds Picks Up Legislative Support

A New York measure that would restrict social media feeds for minors has gained more support in the state legislature with a month before lawmakers leave Albany for the year.

Legislators have until June 6 to make their state the first in the nation to restrict algorithmic feeds on platforms such as TikTok and Instagram for those under 18.

Efforts to pass the measure, known as SAFE for Kids Act (SB 7694), in the Democratic-dominated state come as the tech industry has challenged similar measures in Republican-controlled states.
