Nxivm leader Keith Raniere lost his bid to overturn multiple sex trafficking-related convictions when the Second Circuit ruled Friday that a “commercial sex act” under federal law can exist without an exchange of money or profit motive.
Raniere, who led both an “executive coaching” organization and a related secret society premised on “master-slave” relationships, was sentenced to 120 years in prison after being convicted on numerous counts related to sex trafficking, forced labor, racketeering, and child pornography.
