A North Dakota lawyer who told the police that she had been robbed at gunpoint but later admitted the alleged robbers had intended to buy marijuana from her was disbarred by the state’s highest court.
The North Dakota Supreme Court agreed with its disciplinary board that Jessica M. Hibl’s actions had violated ethics rules prohibiting lawyers from committing a crime and acting dishonestly.
In Dec. 2017, Hibl contacted the police to report that she’d been robbed by three people in a car who had taken $200 from her and then kicked her out of the car.
