North Carolina Justice Urges Federal Judges to Save Her Election

A North Carolina Supreme Court justice is suing in federal court over an issue that’s never been litigated before: She’s calling on federal judges to stop her own colleagues from de-certifying her election victory.

Associate Justice Allison Riggs (D), who won a razor-thin re-election campaign against Republican challenger Jefferson Griffin, urged the US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit Wednesday to expedite a case that could save her job.
