North Carolina Federal Judge Tapped as Top Judiciary Official

Judge Robert Conrad has been tapped to lead the federal judiciary’s administrative arm beginning in March.

Conrad, a George W. Bush appointee, will serve as director of the Administrative Office of the US Court following nearly two decades on the US District Court for the Western District of North Carolina, Chief Justice John Roberts said in a Tuesday statement.

The AO oversees administrative business affecting the federal court system, including by drafting the judiciary’s budget requests to Congress.
